Military Policing of Americans Is a Hard Stop

To: Sen. Fischer, Rep. Flood, Sen. Ricketts

From: A constituent in Papillion, NE

January 20

Congress is allowing something dangerous to happen—and its silence is unacceptable. Using, or preparing to use, the military for domestic enforcement in U.S. cities is a red line. That is not law and order. It is the breakdown of civilian government. The Constitution does not permit the military to police Americans, and the Founders warned clearly against standing armies being turned inward. When Congress fails to act while federal force expands and military assets are positioned for domestic use, it creates a precedent that will be abused—by this administration or the next. Once that line is crossed, it does not get erased. Congress must act now: • No active‑duty military in domestic law enforcement • No enforcement expansion without hearings and hard limits • No funding that normalizes military control over civilian life If Congress won’t draw this line, it has abandoned its duty. Act immediately.
