This is my weekly reminder that I expect you to do the job you were elected to do: represent your constituents and hold the federal government accountable when there are credible allegations of misconduct and abuse of government authority. I am deeply concerned by the growing number of Hatch Act complaints involving senior officials in the Trump administration and the length of time many of these investigations have remained unresolved. According to recent reporting, multiple complaints have been filed against senior administration officials, while several investigations have reportedly remained open for nearly a year without public findings. There are now additional complaints involving Attorney General Todd Blanche, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, and allegations concerning the use of federal grant decisions for political purposes. These allegations deserve serious, independent investigation and, where violations are established, appropriate consequences. So I have to ask you directly: Why aren’t you speaking out? Why aren’t you demanding answers about these allegations? Why aren’t you calling for the Office of Special Counsel to investigate these matters promptly and transparently? And why aren’t you publicly defending the principle that federal employees and political appointees alike must follow the laws governing their conduct? The Hatch Act exists for a reason. Federal authority and taxpayer-funded government resources should not be used as tools for partisan political activity or political retaliation. When credible complaints are made, members of Congress should not simply sit back and wait for the problem to disappear. The continued politicization of the federal government, the attacks on federal institutions, and the growing number of allegations involving the misuse of government authority are unacceptable. You were elected to represent the people in your district, not to remain silent when government institutions and the rule of law are being called into question. I am asking you to publicly address these Hatch Act allegations and explain what you are doing as a member of Congress to ensure that federal officials are held accountable when they violate the law. And I want to be very clear: silence is not representation. If you expect to continue representing this district, then you need to demonstrate that you are willing to stand up when government officials are accused of abusing their authority, regardless of which administration or political party is involved. I expect you to speak out, demand accountability, and do your job.
