**Oppose Netflix's $83 Billion Acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery**
I urge you to oppose Netflix's proposed $83 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery's studios and streaming business. This merger represents exactly what antitrust laws were designed to prevent: the world's largest streaming company swallowing one of its biggest competitors, concentrating enormous power in too few hands.
This deal threatens entertainment workers across every sector. The Writers Guild of America has warned it would eliminate jobs, reduce wages, worsen working conditions, and shrink the market for creative work. Teamsters Local 399 principal officer Lindsay Dougherty called it a greed-fueled consolidation that threatens union jobs and the industry's existence. The Directors Guild of America raised significant concerns about maintaining a vibrant, competitive industry that fosters genuine competition for talent.
Consumers would face higher prices and reduced content diversity. The Producers Guild of America emphasized that Warner Bros. is more than a content library, it contains the character and culture of our nation. Cinema United warned the deal poses an unprecedented threat to theatrical exhibition worldwide, from major circuits to small-town independent theaters. Netflix's business model fundamentally opposes theatrical releases, despite vague promises to maintain current operations.
History shows consolidation harms the industry. Previous mega-mergers like Comcast-NBCUniversal, AT&T-Time Warner, Disney-Fox, Amazon-MGM, and Warner Bros.-Discovery have concentrated power among a few gatekeepers. This $83 billion deal would be one of the largest media mergers in history, further reducing competition in an already consolidated market.
I ask you to publicly oppose this acquisition and call on federal antitrust regulators to reject it. The entertainment industry needs more competition, not less. Workers need more employers bidding for their services, not fewer. Consumers deserve choice and fair prices. Please stand against this harmful consolidation.
