I'm contacting my legislators today to urge you to stand up for democracy and the rule of law. Pam Bondi, while serving in a position of public trust, specifically as Attorney General, has engaged in conduct that demonstrates a disregard for the rule of law and the ethical obligations of an attorney, specifically concerning the case of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. - Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a resident of the United States, was unlawfully taken into custody and deported to El Salvador by the Trump administration. - The United States Supreme Court, in a 9-0 decision, ordered the Trump administration to facilitate Mr. Garcia's return to the United States. - Despite the Supreme Court's order, the Trump administration, with Attorney General Pam Bondi playing a significant role, has refused to comply, effectively defying the highest court in the nation. - Attorney General Bondi has publicly stated that Mr. Garcia "is not coming back to our country," and has asserted that his return is solely at the discretion of El Salvador, despite the Supreme Court's directive. Pam Bondi's actions, as described above, constitute a violation of the ethical obligations of an attorney, specifically including, but not limited to, the following: - Disregard for the Rule of Law: An attorney has a fundamental duty to uphold the rule of law. Ms. Bondi's actions and public statements indicate a disregard for the authority of the Supreme Court and its binding decision. This undermines the very foundation of the legal system. - Violation of Oath of Admission: Attorneys take an oath to support the Constitution and the laws of the United States. Ms. Bondi's actions in defying a Supreme Court order directly contradict this oath. - Misleading Statements: Public statements made by Pam Bondi regarding the Kilmar Abrego Garcia case appear to misrepresent the Supreme Court's ruling and the obligations of the United States government. - Conduct Unbecoming a Lawyer: An attorney's conduct should reflect honor and dignity to the legal profession. Pam Bondi's actions in this matter fall short of this standard and erode public confidence in the legal system. I urge you to investigate this complaint thoroughly and take appropriate disciplinary action against Pam Bondi. Her actions demonstrate a serious disregard for the rule of law and the ethical obligations of an attorney, which warrants disciplinary measures. I believe her conduct warrants her removal from the Attorney General position.
