Why Are You Staying Silent While Our Democracy Is Under Attack?
To: Sen. Schmitt, Sen. Hawley
From: A verified voter in Kansas City, MO
June 12
I am writing to you not just as your constituent, but as an American deeply concerned for the future of our democracy. I want to know—why are you not standing up for the American people? Why are you allowing a wannabe dictator to dismantle our institutions, attack the rule of law, and trample on the Constitution?
Donald Trump continues to commit blatant abuses of power—corruption, self-dealing, illegal influence peddling, and public threats against our judicial system. Yet your silence is deafening. At what point do you decide that enough is enough?
Your job is to represent and protect the people, not to enable authoritarianism. History is watching. And one day, Donald Trump will be out of power—but your constituents will remember who stood up to defend this country and who stayed silent out of fear, loyalty, or political convenience.
I urge you to do your duty. Speak out. Take action. Be on the right side of history. Because democracy doesn’t defend itself—it depends on leaders with courage.
