Today is Easter Sunday- an important day to honor Jesus and his teachings. An important and central message from Jesus in Mathew’s states: Truly I tell you that how you treat the least of us, brothers and sisters, you do unto me! Do you believe that Senator Lankford and if so, how do you practice this! Do you remaining mute while a citizen is denied due process in an El Salvador concentration camp is heeding that message?! Do you think remaining silent when a Tufts University student remains in detention for the sin of exercising her free speech and writing an Op-Ed is heeding that message?! Do you think that supporting a budget that gives billionaires and billionaire corporations huge tax cuts while taking away Medicaid from thousands of Oklahomans is heeding that message? Do you think taking Snap benefits from the poorest amongst us leaving families to go hungry is heeding that message?! Do you think supporting the SAVE act that will block the poor and married women from being able to vote is heeding that message? Do you think letting the poor and starving go hungry in other countries leaving them to starve to death while cutting off all foreign aide is heeding that message? Do you think aligning with Russia against a country that is fighting to maintain their democracy is heeding that message? What do you believe Senator Lankford and how do you practice your faith? If it’s to remain silent while we descend into authoritarianism and see the end of our democracy, then you can not claim to care about the least of us! Jesus believed in standing up for the least amongst us. He did not remain quiet and stand by while others suffered. How do you practice your faith? If it’s to cater to billionaires at our expense, then you are not following the teachings of Jesus!
