URGENT: Formal Protest Regarding the President’s Recent Racist Social Media Post
I am writing to you today as a concerned constituent to express my profound outrage regarding the President’s recent social media post depicting former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama as apes.
This behavior is completely unacceptable for the President and the leader of the free world. Using dehumanizing, racist tropes to target a former President and First Lady is a betrayal of the dignity of the Office of the Presidency and a stain on our national character. It is an embarrassment to our country on the world stage and a direct insult to the citizens you represent.
As my representatives in Washington, I urge you to consider the following:
• Moral Leadership: The President’s actions are not a minor lapse in judgment; they are a direct promotion of vile imagery that has no place in our society, let alone the White House.
• Accountability: The refusal to take full responsibility for such a blatant act of racism demonstrates a lack of the basic human decency required to lead this nation.
• Constitutional Duty: This behavior is disqualifying. I am asking you to publicly condemn this act in the strongest possible terms and to support all available constitutional avenues—including removal from office—to ensure that the standards of the Presidency are upheld.
Wyoming values integrity, respect, and the rule of law. I expect my representatives to stand up for these principles when they are so blatantly violated by the Executive Branch.
I look forward to your response and to learning what specific actions you will take to address this crisis of leadership.
