Do Your Job and End the Government Shutdown

To: Sen. Hawley, Sen. Schmitt

From: A verified voter in Kansas City, MO

November 3

I am writing to demand that you do your job, work with Congress, and put an end to this government shutdown. How is it acceptable for Congress to be sent home week after week, collecting a paycheck to take yet another vacation while the American people suffer? Federal workers are going without pay, families are struggling, and vital services are being disrupted—all because of political games and an unwillingness to negotiate. You were elected to represent your constituents, not to follow orders from party leadership or a corrupt administration that continues to violate the law without consequence. There are countless Hatch Act violations happening daily, and yet you stay silent. The Speaker of the House still refuses to swear in a duly elected congresswoman—an act that undermines democracy itself. Why won’t you speak out? Why do you refuse to stand up for what’s right? The midterms are right around the corner, and the people are watching. If you continue to prioritize political loyalty over moral integrity, you will see a total shift in power. The Democrats are poised to take back the House and Senate—because Americans are tired of being ignored and betrayed by those who swore an oath to serve them. It’s time to stop the excuses. Work with Congress, end the shutdown, and do your job.
