Reject KOSA, uphold online rights and balanced regulation

The Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) poses a grave threat to online rights and freedoms. This misguided legislation would empower government overreach by allowing state attorneys general to dictate what content platforms must censor for minors. Under vague standards of preventing harm, legal discussions around complex societal issues like substance abuse, mental health, and gender could be blocked indiscriminately. KOSA would inevitably lead to widespread censorship, undermining free expression and access to vital information online. Furthermore, its requirements would effectively mandate invasive age verification systems, compromising privacy and anonymity for all users. This draconian approach fails to address the nuances of online safety while unleashing a tidal wave of unintended consequences. We must reject KOSA and its assault on digital liberties. Instead, policymakers should pursue balanced solutions that uphold constitutional rights while genuinely safeguarding the wellbeing of young internet users through robust privacy protections, consumer choice, and corporate accountability. Censorship and government overreach are not the answer. Urge your representatives to stand firm against KOSA and protect the open internet.
