Reconsider inviting leaders who violate human rights

To: Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Roy, Sen. Cruz

From: A constituent in Austin, TX

June 1

Congress should not provide a platform to leaders who have overseen grave human rights violations against civilians. Issuing an invitation undermines stated commitments to upholding democratic values and human rights. I urge reconsideration of this decision, which damages America's credibility on the world stage and alienates many of your constituents who reject violence against innocent people. Aligning with the administration's criticism of expanding the Gaza assault could help restore moral leadership. Prioritizing diplomacy and ceasing arms transfers until a just peace is reached would demonstrate a principled stance on this issue. America's global standing suffers when it is seen as selectively applying human rights standards. I hope you will advocate for policies consistent with our nation's highest ideals. I will not be voting for any candidate that accepts money from AIPAC, whether Republican or Democrat.
