Keep our food safe

To: Rep. Elfreth, Sen. Van Hollen, Sen. Alsobrooks

From: A constituent in Arnold, MD

November 2

I'm writing to demand chicken and other food regulations are reinstated immediately. Major chicken companies like Perdue, Butterball, and Foster Farms are selling meat contaminated with Salmonella. That’s because over 90% of chickens and turkeys in the U.S. are raised on filthy factory farms where genetically uniform birds are crammed together in crowded conditions that spread disease. The worst part is that the USDA knows contaminated poultry is sickening families—more than 320,000 Americans every year—and killing over 100—but it allows big meat companies to keep flooding grocery stores with contaminated chicken and turkey. In 2024, the USDA finalized new rules to fix this, but in April 2025 those rules were rescinded, leaving families unprotected and corporate offenders unchecked.  Tell the USDA to reinstate the salmonella rules and stop Perdue, Butterball, Foster Farms, and other major chicken and turkey brands from selling poultry contaminated with fecal bacteria! #ReleaseTheEpsteinFiles
