I just read a statement from Donald Trump, saying that your colleague, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, "should not be allowed" to express his opinion. No matter whether you agree with Jeffries' opinion or not, the suggestion that any American citizen should be silenced for expressing an opinion is an outrageous violation of our First Amendment. This is not a partisan issue. I hope you will act swiftly and firmly, publicly affirming that this kind of statement has no place in the United States of America.
