I am writing to express my deep concern over the sudden removal of all 2025 Notices of Funding Opportunities (NOFOs) from the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) website. Applicants were abruptly instructed to stop working on their applications, leaving critical programs that support survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking in a state of uncertainty.
The OVW plays an essential role in providing funding, resources, and technical assistance to programs that protect and empower survivors. These grants help fund shelters, crisis hotlines, legal aid, and advocacy services—lifelines that thousands of survivors rely on for safety and support. Any delay or potential loss of this funding will have devastating consequences, putting lives at risk and weakening the nationwide efforts to combat gender-based violence.
It remains unclear whether these grants will be temporarily suspended or permanently discontinued. However, even a short delay in funding could force service providers to cut programs, lay off staff, or turn away survivors who desperately need assistance. This is unacceptable. Survivors should never have to fear losing access to essential resources due to bureaucratic disruptions.
I urge you to take immediate action to ensure that OVW funding opportunities are reinstated and protected. The federal government has a responsibility to uphold its commitment to addressing violence against women and ensuring that survivors receive the support they need. Please use your position to advocate for the continuation of these vital grants and demand transparency regarding the status of OVW funding.
Thank you for your attention to this urgent issue. I appreciate your leadership and commitment to protecting survivors of violence. I look forward to your response and any actions you take to restore these critical resources.
