Impeach Secretary Noem and President Trump for Threatening Election Integrity

To: Rep. Joyce, Sen. Moreno, Sen. Husted

From: A constituent in Willoughby, OH

February 15

Secretary Kristi Noem's statement on Friday that DHS would ensure the "right people" vote to elect "the right leaders" represents a direct threat to constitutional democracy. Her claim that DHS has authority to identify "vulnerabilities" in elections and implement "mitigation measures" at state and national levels fundamentally contradicts the Constitution's allocation of election administration to states and Congress, not executive agencies. This follows President Trump's Truth Social post declaring "There will be Voter I.D. for the Midterm Elections, whether approved by Congress or not," suggesting he will bypass congressional authority through executive order. This represents a clear violation of Article I powers vested in Congress to regulate federal elections. When executive officials openly declare they will determine who the "right people" are to vote and who the "right leaders" are to elect, they are describing voter suppression and election manipulation, not election security. The timing is critical. These statements come months before November's midterm elections, creating a window for implementation of unconstitutional measures that could disenfranchise legal voters through documentation technicalities. The House passed SAVE America Act, requiring proof of citizenship through photo ID and forcing states to remove voters from rolls, awaits Senate action and could enable systematic disenfranchisement. Article II, Section 4 of the Constitution provides for impeachment of civil officers for high crimes and misdemeanors. Threatening to override congressional authority, claiming executive power to determine who votes, and stating government will select "the right leaders" constitute violations of oath to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution. These are not policy disagreements but fundamental attacks on the constitutional separation of powers and the right to vote. I urge you to initiate impeachment proceedings against Secretary Noem and President Trump. This constitutional crisis demands immediate action to protect the integrity of November's elections and preserve democratic governance. The majority of Americans deserve representatives who will defend their voting rights, not officials who openly threaten to choose their voters.
