2 important topics - El Salvador mistake and data leak from NLRB
To: Sen. Marshall, Rep. Estes, Sen. Moran

April 15
I am writing to express my concern and outrage on 2 specific topics in the press today. The first is with the ongoing saga of the gentleman who was mistakenly sent to El Salvador to be detained in CECOT. The behavior of this Administration in this case is abhorrent. Set aside the fact that the US should not be sending detainees to a 3rd party country to be held in conditions which warrant the description of torture, but the fact that this Administration is doing nothing to correct the mistake that they have made and are instead doubling down and thumbing their nose at the Judiciary is appalling. When you make a mistake, you take steps to correct it and you don’t just cross your arms in a sulk saying “You’re not the boss of me. You can’t make me” which is essentially what the Administration is saying to the courts. No, the courts do not determine Foreign Policy and owe the Executive Branch due deference- but that cuts both ways, with the Executive Branch owing due deference to the CO-EQUAL Judiciary. I would urge you to take whatever steps are within your scope as a member of the 3rd CO-EQUAL branch of government, Congress and encourage the Executive Branch to bring this gentleman back to the US and allow Due Process to establish the appropriate outcome for his circumstances. The second item I would like to draw to your attention are the whistleblower claims from a staffer at the NLRB with regard to the alleged behavior of members of DOGE and exfiltration of sensitive data. I would urge you to support a full and rapid transparent investigation into not just what has occurred at the NLRB, but equally as important, if data leakage is confirmed to find out where the data went and who directed the stealing of the data. And for there to be legal consequences for both the actors on the ground, and those in the shadows/background. If this has happened at the NLRB, it has likely happened at other agencies, and there needs to be a clear accounting of what accesses have been granted, what data has been exfiltrated and where it has gone. These are just 2 of multiple news stories that I could reach out to you with regard to the damage which is being done to this nation’s reputation and national security. Please hear me as a constituent and reflect on your own moral compass as to what is right in these 2 situations, and take whatever actions you can to investigate and address them. Thank you for your time.
