I am writing to urge you to protect the structural integrity of our nation’s public health infrastructure by supporting H.R. 944 to impeach and remove Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. This is not a matter of political disagreement; it is a critical defense of the rule of law, fiscal responsibility, and the public trust.
Secretary Kennedy has actively used the administrative authority of his office to bypass established legal procedures and dismantle peer-reviewed systems:
1. Subversion of Administrative Law: The administration’s unilateral attempt to slash the recommended childhood immunization schedule bypassed three decades of legal precedent and expert review, forcing federal courts to step in and block the actions as a violation of the Administrative Procedure Act.
2. Dismantling Non-Partisan Peer Review: The Secretary summarily dismissed the independent, 17-member Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP)—a body that has guided objective U.S. health policy since 1964—replacing vetted epidemiologists with handpicked ideological allies who lack peer-reviewed credentials.
3. Compromising National Safety Amid Outbreaks: Under his tenure, a major preventable measles spike has surpassed 2,200 active cases. Concurrently, his department has gutted $16 billion from HHS discretionary spending, killing over $500 million in critical research contracts including Avian Influenza containment.
An executive official's core statutory duty is to faithfully execute the laws passed by Congress and safeguard the nation. Using a multi-billion dollar public safety agency to bypass administrative law, defund clinical research, and elevate personal theories over empirical consensus is a profound abuse of power.
For the safety of our communities, the stability of our medical research institutions, and the defense of statutory oversight, I urge you to co-sponsor and support H.R. 944.
