Reject National Security Strategy Promoting Racial Purity and Abandoning Allies
To: Sen. Padilla, Rep. Chu, Sen. Schiff
From: A constituent in Pasadena, CA
December 11
I am writing to urge you to publicly reject the recently released National Security Strategy document and work to restore America's commitment to our longstanding alliances and democratic values.
The 29-page NSS document released last week represents a dangerous departure from decades of American foreign policy. Most alarmingly, it promotes racial purity in Europe, a concept that has no place in American strategic thinking and echoes the darkest chapters of history. This language undermines the fundamental values our nation was built upon and damages our credibility on the world stage.
Our closest allies have responded with justified alarm. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk reminded us that Europe is our closest ally, not our problem, referencing our 80-year alliance. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz called portions of the document "unacceptable from the European point of view" and stated it confirms Europe's need to become more independent from the United States on security policy. Anne Applebaum of The Atlantic characterized the strategy as "a performative suicide," noting it's hard to think of another great power abdicating its influence so quickly and publicly.
The document's propagandistic nature, mentioning Trump's name 27 times in just 29 pages, and its conspicuous silence on Russia, which pleased the Kremlin, should concern every American who values our national security. By promoting Europe's far-right nativist parties and abandoning our role in addressing global environmental crises, this strategy actively pushes our allies toward new partnerships that exclude us.
I ask you to take a clear stand against this National Security Strategy. Introduce or support legislation that reaffirms America's commitment to our traditional alliances, explicitly rejects any promotion of racial or cultural purity in our foreign policy, and restores our leadership role among democratic nations. Our security and prosperity depend on these relationships that have served us for generations.
