Oppose Trump's politicization of FBI, preserve law enforcement integrity
To: Sen. Fetterman, Sen. McCormick
From: A constituent in Reading, PA
January 31
The Trump administration's decision to fire experienced FBI agents involved in investigations related to the President is an alarming overreach that undermines the independence and integrity of law enforcement. These career officials have dedicated years of service to upholding the law and protecting national security interests. Dismissing them for their roles in legally sanctioned inquiries politicizes law enforcement in a manner antithetical to democratic principles. The FBI has traditionally been strongly apolitical and must remain that way. This purge threatens to severely hamstring the FBI's ability to effectively investigate threats and criminal activities by ousting knowledgeable personnel vital to ongoing operations and institutional knowledge. Our nation's security apparatus must remain nonpartisan and shielded from interference motivated by personal interests. I urge you to speak out forcefully against these unjustified terminations which endanger the American people by degrading frontline defenses against a multitude of threats from terrorism to espionage. Protecting experienced law enforcement leadership is imperative for public safety.
