I’m writing in support of Senate Bill 868, the “Plug and Play Solar Act,” which would allow Californians to place affordable “balcony solar” systems in apartments, condos, and single family homes. This would make solar energy generation more accessible to a wider range of California households. These types of balcony solar setups already thrive in Europe. Increasing the capacity to harness solar energy for more households also makes the electrical grid more resilient and can lower peak demand during heat waves like the one Southern California is currently experiencing. Balcony solar is the next right step for California. This bill has already passed in the Legislature and is now on your desk for your signature. Please sign SB 868, the “Pllug and Play Solar Act,” into law.
