Make it stop!

April 3

On January 7th, following the federal government’s deployment of 2,000 immigration agents to Minneapolis in recent weeks and escalating efforts to target the city’s immigrant communities, a federal agent brutally shot and killed Renee Nicole Good, a U.S. citizen, mother of three, a poet, and a neighbor. Unfortunately, this is not the first time ICE has shot people on American streets, nor is it the first time people have died at the hands of ICE. Last year, there were a record 32 registered deaths in ICE custody, with 6 deaths already reported this year. Since the murder of Good, ICE has shot more people, dragged people out of their houses and cars without warrants, and has even tear gassed a family with children inside their car, including a 6 month old infant. As a reminder, last year, YOU🫵 passed a reconciliation bill that gave ICE a $20 billion increase per year until 2029. That’s billions of American people’s hard earned tax dollars being used to pay for these horrendous actions while occupying American cities. Masked federal agents, equipped for war, are dragging people from their cars, zip-tying children, firing tear gas at high schoolers, and pointing guns at peaceful observers and protestors. They are setting up checkpoints in our cities and detaining people based on the color of their skin, their language or accent, or where they happen to be. By design, these actions terrorize and wreak havoc. They tear at the seams of our families, our communities, and our safety. They poison our democracy and our way of life. Now, as you once again negotiate a FY 2026 funding bill that would hand even more money to ICE, I urge you to instead invest in the resources our communities deserve! The FY 2026 funding bill would grant ICE an additional $400 MILLION for the detention of 44,500 people a day (on top of the 100,000 capacity given in last year’s reconciliation bill) in their horrifying concentration camps. This is unconscionable! Make no mistake, the insatiable demands for more funding will not stop. I demand you stop using our tax dollars to fund an agenda of destruction and death! Vote NO on any additional funding for DHS!
