Hello I am writing about the California Firearm Printing Prevention Act. As someone who regularly uses a 3d printer I recognize the concern, but this bill betrays a fundamental misunderstanding of the technology. There is no implementation that would catch every instance of a fire arm and/or needlessly catch useful objects that aren’t firearms. I also am also concerned about the potential precedent set regarding surveillance. 3d printers have been vital in providing things like whistles to combat ice, what if the federal government bans their production and now the machine I paid for won’t print one.
