Please remind President Trump that Immigration is not a crime!

I am writing today to urge you to call on the Trump administration to lower the temperature of their anti-immigrant rhetoric, as well as to oppose their efforts to paint all immigrants as criminals and treat them as such, including denial of the constitutional right of birthright citizenship. As you know, nearly all of us are descended from immigrants to this country who came in search of a better life. Whether our families came before there were immigration controls, or whether or not we entered through “proper” means, the vast majority of us are good people who are trying to live our lives in peace. Our communities are not only enriched by immigrants, but in many cases absolutely depend on them. President Trump, since he came down that golden escalator in 2015, has attempted to paint immigrants as criminals. His EO to deny the right of birthright citizenship, and the expansion of Guantanamo to handle more deported migrants, are further examples that he still seems to believe that all immigrants - and really, all non-white people - are bad people. This is not acceptable. I ask you to take all necessary actions to make it clear to the administration that immigrants, documented or not, are human beings deserving of respect and dignity, and must be treated as such. Thank you.
