The EPA's June 30 approval of trifludimoxazin must be reversed. This forever chemical — a PFAS compound linked to thyroid tumors, liver damage, and reproductive harm in animal studies — was pulled from the market once before after environmental groups sued over its cancer risks. The Trump EPA brought it back anyway, and without properly accounting for its carcinogenic potential or its combined effects when farmworkers are exposed to it alongside saflufenacil, another toxic herbicide in two of the approved products. The EPA's own data acknowledges chronic risks to bees and endangered species, and the agency's own guidance says animal carcinogen findings signal human risk. Yet the final risk assessment declared "no human health risks of concern." That conclusion is not science — it's a rubber stamp. This chemical is described as ten times more potent than dicamba, which has already caused millions of acres of unintended crop damage. It can drift hundreds of yards from a sprayed field and run off into wetlands. Please use every tool available — oversight hearings, funding restrictions, legislative action — to force the EPA to conduct a full, honest risk assessment and halt the use of trifludimoxazin until that work is done.
