I can only imagine that elected democrats must believe their constituents are foolish, dumb, uninformed, or a mix of all the above. Why do I say this? 1. All eight democrats who capitulated are not up for reelection during midterms. 2. The vote occurred immediately following a blue wave. You gain power, and this is how you behave? You disown your values less than seven days later? 3. Trump’s approval rating is at an all time low. Democratic engagement is at an all time high. Are you dense? Are you paying attention? I can only assume your strategy is to lose presidential races. While you may not be one of the eight who voted, you continue to actively uphold and participate in the failing strategy and system that Democrats are clinging to. This vote was the nail in the coffin for myself, and for so many who had a sliver of hope after seeing candidates like Zohran Mamdani win. Candidates like him, who seem to truly understand what the people who give you power want. It is so simple, we want affordability in all forms, for all people. Stop claiming it is more complex when you continue to promote free healthcare and free education for a genocidal nation before your own. Healthcare is a human right, and this vote shows that you simply do not believe so. As a person who is actively involved in advocating, protesting, and organizing on a grass roots level for elected progressive leadership, I will no longer be doing. You’re not the lesser of two evils, you are the same. Democrats will no longer win elections unless: 1. Chuck Schumer step downs and is replaced with leadership that truly advocates for people. Hakeem Jeffries needs to change his tune real quick as well. 2. Stop providing other countries like Israel with free college and healthcare before your own people. 3. Candidates must stop receiving AIPAC money, as well as money from billionaire funded PACs, defense and fossil fuel PACs. 4. They do a single, goddamn thing they’ve promised. Honestly, the list goes on and on. In short, look at Mamdani’s campaign values and strategy - a successful, people-driven campaign many Dem proudly disowned. Because when you continue to lose, you will be the ones feeling foolish, dumb, and uninformed. I would rather have horrendously evil yet transparent politicians like Trump instead of politicians that can barely pretend to protect the people. When is the next town hall? See you then!
