I’m a voter from rural Southeast Kansas, and I’m outraged that there’s even a possibility of ICE getting access to Medicaid data. This is a gross violation of privacy and human rights, and I demand you speak out and stop it immediately.
Let me be clear: using people’s health records to target them for immigration enforcement is cruel, unethical, and dangerous. In rural Kansas, where healthcare access is already scarce, this will cause lasting harm. Families—especially our local Hispanic and Asian communities—will avoid medical care out of fear. That’s not just unjust. It’s a public health disaster.
You represent real people, not political agendas. We are your neighbors, your constituents, your communities. If you stay silent on this, you are complicit in weaponizing healthcare against the very people who keep Kansas running.
You must:
• Publicly denounce any plan to give ICE access to Medicaid records
• Pressure HHS and CMS to enforce strict privacy protections
• Support legislation that blocks ICE from exploiting healthcare systems, now and in the future
I will be watching your response and your votes. Kansans—including rural, disabled, immigrant, and working-class families—will not forget who stood up and who stayed silent.
Do the right thing. Protect our families. Protect our privacy.
