Donald Trump has nominated Dr. Mehmet Oz to lead the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Dr. Oz not only has a long history of peddling dubious weight-loss schemes and other types of quack medicine, he also stands to financially benefit from an expansion of Medicare Advantage due to owning $600,000 worth of stock in two of the largest Medicare Advantage providers (UnitedHealth Group and CVS/Aetna). The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services provide insurance coverage to some of the most vulnerable members of our society. We cannot allow a man whose medical colleagues warn is misleading and dangerous to lead CMS. I demand that you vote NO on Dr. Oz’s nomination for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Director. He is grossly unqualified, has existing conflicts of interest, and has already indicated he wants to support the administration’s plans to gut Medicaid. He also pushes misleading and questionable medical advice. Thank you.
