I am writing to urge you to publicly call for the resignation of Supreme Court justices who face credible allegations of sexual misconduct. The integrity of our highest court depends on public confidence that justices meet the highest ethical standards, and that confidence has been severely damaged.
The Supreme Court holds immense power over the lives of Americans, making decisions that affect reproductive rights, workplace protections, and civil liberties. When justices on this court face serious allegations of sexual misconduct that were never fully investigated, it undermines the legitimacy of every decision they make. This is particularly troubling given that the Court has no binding ethics code and justices face no meaningful accountability mechanisms.
Recent polling consistently shows that public trust in the Supreme Court has fallen to historic lows. Americans across the political spectrum believe the Court has become too politicized and lacks accountability. When justices credibly accused of sexual misconduct remain on the bench without consequence, it sends a message that powerful men are above the rules that govern everyone else.
The Senate has a constitutional role in providing advice and consent on judicial nominations, but it also has a responsibility to speak out when sitting justices fail to meet basic standards of conduct. Your voice matters in demanding accountability from an institution that currently answers to no one.
I am asking you to publicly call for the resignation of any Supreme Court justice facing credible allegations of sexual misconduct and to support legislation establishing a binding ethics code for the Supreme Court with real enforcement mechanisms. The American people deserve a Court they can trust, and that starts with justices who meet fundamental standards of ethical behavior.
This is not a partisan issue. It is about the basic principle that no one, regardless of their position, should be immune from accountability for serious misconduct.
