I'm writing to encourage you to condemn Trump's recent comments posted on Truth Social where he referred to Ukraine's President Zelensky as a dictator, and to urge you to call for any peace talks in the Russo-Ukrainian War to involve both Russian and Ukraine. President Zelensky has proven himself to be an honorable, hard-working leader time and time again since Russian invaded Ukraine in 2022. It is abhorrent and shameful to have the President of the United States refer to him in such a manner and to defend Russia's actions. The whole world knows that Russia has been the aggressor in this conflict since even before the full invasion in 2022 with the forced annexation of Crimea. If part of the US had been forcefully taken the way Crimea was taken from Ukraine, war would have broken out immediately. To now blame Ukraine for this war after they worked so hard to avoid any conflict is absurd. I find Trump's sudden shift in alliances toward Russia's side to be very alarming. Putin is a true dictator, and should be held accountable for his actions in Ukraine, which have cost thousands of Ukrainian and Russian lives alike. Additionally, if Ukraine is absorbed by Russia, it will only be a matter of time before other European nations are also invaded--and who says Putin would be satisfied to stop there? In summary, we as the United States should stand by any nation that is forcefully invaded by a dictator like Putin, and so much more by the side of a nation that has been an ally for some time. Please stand up for what is right and call out Trump's disgusting rhetoric against President Zelensky and also call for any peace talks to include Ukraine.
