President Trump's executive order attempting to end birthright citizenship goes against longstanding constitutional principles and legal precedents. The 14th Amendment clearly establishes that all people born in the United States are citizens, regardless of their parents' immigration status. This principle has been consistently upheld by the Supreme Court for over a century. Revoking birthright citizenship would require a constitutional amendment, which is an arduous process requiring approval from Congress and ratification by three-fourths of the states - not something that can be accomplished unilaterally by the president. Ending this fundamental right would create a discriminatory system where multiple generations of U.S-born individuals lack full rights and membership in the country of their birth. This would be profoundly undemocratic and contrary to core American values of equality and inclusion. We must vigorously oppose any attempt to overturn bedrock constitutional protections through executive overreach. Our democratic system depends on upholding the rule of law and rights enshrined in our founding documents, not subverting them for partisan political agendas. I urge you to denounce this unconstitutional order and take action to protect the civil liberties of all Americans.
