I am gravely concerned that the wholesale rape and pillage of the social safety net programs that have become a fixture and the lifeline for many, many seniors is out of control. Elon and his DOGE group, a totally illegally contrived “feature” of the federal government fiscal responsibility sideshow are rampaging through earned benefits like the Mongol hordes through central Asia. You gentlemen should be concerned too, even though as elected officials you are privy to benefits the rest of us aren’t. A simple move could remedy so much of the question of the SS long term viability. Remove the ridiculously low cap on SS contributions. A simple move with a target that can afford it. Medicare and Medicaid are essential services for the seniors. The moves afoot to decimate these programs that are affordable and have very little waste when compared with other departments or programs such as DoD where Elon has huge interests. How well have Pharmacy Benefits Managers saved money for the government or the seniors? Same for scam Medicare Advantage programs. The old adage applies here. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it !” A move to privatize these services would obviously result in the wholesale denial of services that we have seen illuminated in the private health insurance industry.
