For the sake of our democracy and the constitutional balance of power, I am writing to demand immediate clarity and action regarding reports that the Pentagon is discussing potential military operations involving Cuba.
This is deeply alarming. Military action is not something to be floated, debated, or pursued without clear justification, transparency, and—most importantly—Congressional oversight. The American people deserve to know why such discussions are even occurring, and under what authority.
It is unacceptable for Congress to remain passive while the executive branch continues to push the boundaries of its power. Your role is not to stand by, rationalize, or defend questionable decisions—it is to act as a check on them. Right now, that responsibility is not being met.
We cannot continue down a path where diplomacy is sidelined and military action becomes a default posture. The very idea that we could be escalating tensions with yet another nation—without clear, imminent threat—is reckless. It risks dragging the United States into unnecessary conflict and further destabilizing global relations.
The Department of Defense (not the Department of War) exists to protect this nation—not to posture for avoidable conflict. Any shift away from that mission, whether in rhetoric or action, should concern every elected official entrusted with oversight.
I urge you to:
* Demand full transparency regarding any discussions or plans involving military action toward Cuba
* Reassert Congress’s constitutional authority over war powers
* Publicly oppose any unnecessary or unjustified escalation
* Hold this administration accountable for actions that risk American lives and global stability
This is not a partisan issue. This is about responsibility, restraint, and the preservation of democratic governance.
Do not wait until it is too late to act.
