Trump recently announced 100% tariffs on pharmaceuticals manufactured in other countries. The US only manufactures 40 % of the drugs used here. Some of the drugs NOT manufactured here are asthma inhalers (except albuterol), cholesterol drugs and weight loss drugs. As a senior, I currently pay $37 for generic Advair and $121 for Spiriva every month. Advair is one of a couple of inhalers that have a generic. Albuterol also is generic but it is a rescue treatment not a preventative. Asthma inhalers run $500-600 monthly retail. My Medicare Advantage plan requires me to pay 25% of the retail cost of the inhalers. Trump’s insane tariffs will wipe out a large part of my meager income. Trump has zero understanding about how tariffs work and that the cost is borne by the consumer. I’m sick of playing this game which will not be won by the US. Many, many. seniors have asthma and COPD. How many will be able to deal with the exorbitant increase in the price of medications. I do not use insulin but I imagine that will be affected also. We need Congress to start standing up to Trump. He has no factual basis for any of the tariffs and they are increasingly hurting people in the US! Please step in and help your constituents!
