Preserve checks and balances, uphold constitutional principles

To: Sen. Kelly, Sen. Gallego, Rep. Biggs

From: A constituent in Mesa, AZ

April 18

The authority and independence of all three branches of government need to be respected through diligent adherence to constitutional principles and the rule of law. Step up and push back. Enough is enough. Checks and balances serve as a vital safeguard to prevent any single branch from accumulating unchecked power and threatening democratic norms. When the executive branch openly defies court orders or undermines judicial legitimacy through inflammatory rhetoric, it poses a grave risk to the separation of powers framework and erodes public trust in governing institutions. Robust congressional oversight becomes imperative to uphold institutional integrity and accountability across the coequal branches. Ultimately, a recommitment to preserving the system of checks and balances is essential for sustaining a government of laws, not individuals.
