I work in the airline industry and support infrastructure improvements at Dulles International Airport. However, I oppose any attempt to tie federal funding for these renovations to renaming the airport after President Trump. Critical infrastructure projects should not be held hostage to vanity naming schemes.
Dulles serves millions of passengers annually and needs upgrades to remain competitive and safe. These improvements benefit the traveling public, the regional economy, and thousands of aviation workers like me whose livelihoods depend on a functional airport. Conditioning funding on a name change turns essential infrastructure into a political bargaining chip.
Federal dollars should flow based on merit, need, and public benefit, not on whether an airport bears a particular person's name. I ask you to ensure that any funding for Dulles renovations moves forward without naming conditions attached and to publicly oppose efforts to leverage infrastructure investments for personal legacy projects.
