An Open Letter
To: Sen. Schmitt
From: A constituent in Plattsburg, MO
June 29
You attempted to respond today to an email I sent. Your response states, in part, “Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me regarding the President’s executive actions. Your input helps inform my decision-making and empowers me to better represent the state.
Our system of government relies on the separation of powers, ensuring each branch of government operates within their enumerated powers and maintains our system of checks and balances. It is a structure that has endured for over 200 years and has been a safeguard against autocracy.
Since January 20, 2025, he [the president] has moved quickly to enact his policy agenda to reduce illegal immigration, reduce crime, cut taxes for everyday Americans, and work towards peace abroad.
Some Americans strongly disagree with the policies and actions of the President. It’s important to remember that the legislative and judicial branches of government have the opportunity to make their voices heard when necessary.”
What exactly are you trying to say? You do NOT answer any question that I have asked.
This is not an answer – it’s mush pretending to respond when in fact, says that YOU in the legislative branch, have failed to do your job in maintaining the separation of powers which it appears you are NOT.
Try again – I have no idea what this answers --- might include the DATE of my email that you are responding to. I have sent dozens – and this response is a D-.
