Dear Governor Abbott, I am writing to urge you to veto SB 3, a deeply harmful piece of legislation that would ban THC products — including Delta-8 and Delta-9—across the state of Texas. This bill does not promote safety; it threatens the health, freedom, and livelihoods of thousands of Texans who currently rely on these legal products for care and well-being. Veterans managing PTSD, patients coping with chronic pain, and individuals living with anxiety have turned to THC as a safe, effective alternative to opioids and other pharmaceuticals. If SB 3 becomes law, these Texans will be criminalized overnight for seeking relief through products that are currently legal and widely used. This is not justice — it is punishment for being sick or in pain. SB 3 will have far-reaching and devastating consequences: • It will endanger public health by pushing THC products into the black market, where unregulated and potentially tainted products, including those laced with fentanyl, will proliferate.
 • It will strip away access to therapeutic care for people who have found real healing through legal THC products — especially veterans and those with chronic conditions.
 • It will drive up incarceration rates, particularly in already over-policed communities, tearing families apart and placing unnecessary burdens on the criminal justice system.
 • It will devastate a thriving economic sector that generates $5.5 billion in annual sales, $268 million in tax revenue, and sustains more than 53,000 jobs, including those held by small business owners and farmers across the state.
 SB 3 is not a public safety measure — it’s a step backward. It undermines healthcare freedom, exacerbates mass incarceration, and threatens the economic well-being of thousands of Texans. Under your leadership, Texas has the opportunity to pursue a smarter, more compassionate approach that values care over punishment. As your constituent, I respectfully urge you to veto SB 3. Let’s protect Texans’ right to access the care they need, support small businesses and working families, and keep our communities safe — not by locking people up, but by ensuring they have the tools to thrive.
