The House Must Hold the Trump Admin Accountable
To: Rep. Deluzio
From: A verified voter in Pittsburgh, PA
November 4
Congratulations on your well-deserved victory! I am so excited to see what this huge Democrat majority in the House can work to achieve in the next two years.
Unfortunately, I've already heard a lot of messaging from Rep. Jeffries in the last 12 hours that is concerning to me. The Pennsylvanians who elected you (and Americans who voted for the blue tsunami yesterday) are clamoring for both progress AND accountability from the House. Rep. Jeffries seems to think that taking real action to hold the Trump administration accountable for its myriad crimes against the American people is a poor use of time and resources. The opposite is true. We need hearings and impeachment for Hegseth, Patel, anyone even tangentially connected to ICE, and Trump himself, as we cannot move on as a country without justice, and those who voted yesterday will become disillusioned once again without it. This accountability can be accomplished while also working to achieve legislation to assist in affordability at the same time! But to say that Democrats in the House should only focus on one or the other is a false choice, and if Rep. Jeffries does not actively work to hold this administration accountable for its corruption and crimes against the Constitution as a priority, then I ask that you do not support his standing for Speaker, and instead support someone who does understand the dire importance of this unique moment in American history and will fight to ensure that justice is done.
Thank you, as always, for fighting for your constituents. I do very much appreciate you and am happy that you will be returning to the House as my representative!
