I am writing as a concerned Texas woman about Senate bill 2880. This bill is problematic in many ways, both to women's health and to the interpretation of the US Constitution. This bill would only facilitate witch-hunts against women who are doing their best to make decisions for themselves and their families. Think about how this could affect us! I work with women who have been raped and abused. How easily could these victims be persecuted by their abuser and rapist for seeking an abortion? By passing this bill you would give them the tools to continue to abuse and control their victim. Think about us! This could impact how women receive emergency care for non-viable pregnancies like in ectopic pregnancies. It is already extremely difficult to get an abortion in those circumstances and many Texas women have already lost their lives because of it. Laws should be open to change based on the passage of time and the change in norms and medical standards. This proposed bill is unconstitutional and infringes on Texas women's rights. Think about the women in Texas that you represent and vote NO on Senate Bill 2880.
