Stop ICE Raids in Albany and Protect New York Communities

To: Sen. Van Hollen, Sen. Alsobrooks, Rep. Elfreth

From: A verified voter in Arnold, MD

August 25

Demand that ICE operations in Albany and across New York State be halted immediately. Thirty-three people were taken in a single day in Albany — workers who posed no danger to anyone, swept up in a mass operation conducted steps away from an elementary school. A van left abandoned on the roadside, breakfast still warm on the dash. That is not law enforcement. That is a terror campaign against our neighbors. These were not dangerous individuals. The scale and brutality of how they were treated bears no relationship to any legitimate public safety justification. New York has a responsibility to its residents, and that includes using every tool available — state resources, legal challenges, sanctuary protections — to stop these operations and protect people from this kind of enforcement. I expect you to act on that responsibility now.
