Dear Representative and Senators, I am writing as your constituent to urge you to review The Philadelphia Inquirer’s bipartisan editorial series, “The Case for Impeachment,” and to consider its implications for your constitutional responsibilities. The series brings together experts from across the political spectrum — constitutional scholars, former federal prosecutors, historians, and specialists in democratic governance. Despite their differing backgrounds, they reach a unified conclusion: Donald Trump’s conduct meets the constitutional threshold for impeachment, conviction, and removal from office. During his first term, I read A Case for Impeachment, which outlined early concerns about President Trump’s disregard for constitutional limits. At that time, those warnings felt serious but not yet fully realized. Since the Supreme Court’s recent decision expanding presidential immunity, however, his conduct has escalated dramatically. The concerns raised years ago now appear urgent and immediate, underscoring why Congress must act to protect the constitutional balance of powers. You may be aware that The Philadelphia Inquirer’s editorial series is behind a subscriber paywall. While the full text requires access, the newspaper has publicly described the project and its conclusions: a bipartisan panel of experts unanimously determined that the President’s actions represent a pattern of demagoguery, corruption, and disregard for constitutional limits. Their warnings are not partisan. They are constitutional in nature and reflect a sober assessment of the risks posed to our democratic institutions. I respectfully urge you to take these warnings seriously and to fulfill your constitutional duty. Protecting our democracy requires decisive action when its foundational principles are threatened.
