I am writing to protest the horrific conditions at ICE detention camps and ICE’s ongoing mistreatment of detainees. The conditions in the detention camps are unhealthy and inhumane. This Republican administration must be held accountable for this abuse of detainees and human rights violations. Maintaining these horrific centers in such unhealthy conditions is morally reprehensible. There must be meaningful oversight for the humane treatment of the detainees. You, as a member of Congress, have the power, the authority, and the duty to demand drastic changes to the manner in which ICE maintains these centers. You have the power to demand public oversight and investigations into the unsanitary conditions of detention camps. To not do so makes you complicit in them. Do you wish for that to be your lasting legacy? My wife and I urge you to demand transparent oversight of these camps, and to demand the closure of inhumane detention camps if reform is not possible.
