I am writing to express my deep concern about recent signs of market manipulation, specifically arising from the recent pause on tariffs and remarks by former President Donald J. Trump. When a public figure touts “it’s time to buy,” while a ticker symbol bearing his initials (DJT) continues to garner attention, it suggests an alarming potential for self-dealing and erosion of fair market principles. We are not an oligarchy, and it is imperative that Congress, as a co-equal branch of government, exercise robust oversight to protect our democratic institutions.
I served this nation proudly in the U.S. Air Force for 27 years, defending our Constitution from threats both foreign and, now more critically, domestic. We cannot allow personal gains or political maneuvers to overshadow the fundamental tenets of our republic. Another example is the questionable trading activity attributed to Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, which raises similar concerns about officials profiting from policy shifts or insider knowledge. Our founders established three branches of government precisely to prevent any single entity from amassing unchecked power.
As my elected representative, you have the constitutional duty to safeguard our democracy. This includes probing dubious market activities and reining in the overreach of any individual who uses policy decisions, like tariff pauses, to their personal advantage. America thrives only when the rule of law, transparency, and accountability remain paramount.
I urge you to investigate this matter rigorously, protect the integrity of our markets, and honor the oath of office that binds you to uphold the Constitution. Now is the time to act decisively and prove that our democracy is not for sale.
