I am writing to urge you to take immediate action to demand a clear, transparent, and achievable exit strategy for U.S. involvement in the ongoing conflict with Iran, as well as a comprehensive plan to restore safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
Current reporting indicates that the Strait of Hormuz—through which roughly 20% of the world’s oil supply normally passes—has been effectively disrupted by the conflict, with attacks on shipping and military escalation making commercial transit unsafe. This has already caused significant global economic instability and poses a direct risk to American consumers and national security.
At the same time, there appears to be no clearly articulated end-state or exit strategy for U.S. military engagement. Intelligence assessments suggest that despite extensive strikes, Iran’s governing structure remains intact and has in some respects become more entrenched. Continuing military action without defined objectives risks deepening U.S. involvement in a prolonged and potentially escalating regional conflict.
I respectfully ask that you:
- Publicly demand a clearly defined exit strategy from the administration, including measurable objectives and conditions for disengagement
- Advocate for urgent diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the conflict
- Support international negotiations to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and ensure freedom of navigation
- Insist on Congressional oversight and authorization for any continued military operations
The American people deserve clarity on the goals, risks, and duration of this conflict. Open-ended military engagement without a defined strategy is not acceptable, particularly when it carries such significant economic and geopolitical consequences.
Please use your office to press for transparency, accountability, and a path toward de-escalation.
