Support Ukraine’s desire to for peace as a sovereign nation

To: Sen. Cantwell, Rep. Baumgartner, Sen. Murray

From: A constituent in Waitsburg, WA

January 15

Today the headline is that Trump still blames Ukraine for lack of peace progress. No matter that It was russia that invaded. No matter that it is Ukrainian land and cities and town which have soaked up the blood of of those defending their homes from rape and torture. No matter that it is russia ACTIVELY recruiting and entrapping men to serve as soldiers or really cannon fodder, from Africa, India, China, and North Korea. No matter. Clearly it is Ukraine, who has said they are willing to talk and consider any matter, who is to blame. My mission serves 14 churches and a seminary in Ukraine. I am personally in charge of collecting prayer requests from all of the churches. My husband is currently in Kyiv- one of the lucky ones who is at least getting an hour or electricity. An hour of electricity to pump water and heat and power a stove and a hot water heater. One hour. Outside the temperature is 6F. Some 400 buildings have been complete with out electricity since the evening of the 8th. Others have up to 4 hours of electricity. Inside the temperature of the rooms cannot break the constant cold. High rise building, up to 32 stories, were not made for severe power outages. The ecoflow power banks have no chance to recharge with such a short recharge window. And even when they work they cannot pump the water through the buildings. Outside on the streets diesel fumes hang in the air and the sound of generator engines drown out the sounds of normal city life as each kiosk and grocery store have their generator- a lifeline to business chained to their entrance. At night, the dark is absolute. No street lights. No traffic signals. Pedestrian deaths and injuries are up. Will Congress take a stand against this false Narrative the president continues to promote? With security stances that cease to see Russia as an enemy, that roll out a red carpet for wanted war criminals to visit on territory that their state media insists should still be theirs, with public catering to a dictator and the utter I professionalism of conduct, both in public discourse and presentation of written agreements. Please stand up for Ukraine and do not support, repeat, or give any breathe of legitimacy to any action that suggest that Ukraine is fighting for their life and existence as a sovereign nation, they want peace- but peace that allows them to continue as a sovereign nation. Is that too much to ask?
