Protect Illinois Patients from Federal Reproductive-Health Restrictions

To: Sen. Arellano, Rep. Spain, Gov. Pritzker

From: A verified voter in Dunlap, IL

August 5

I am asking Illinois officials to prepare immediately for possible federal attempts to restrict mailed abortion medication and reproductive-health services. Please defend and strengthen Illinois protections for reproductive healthcare, including abortion, miscarriage management, contraception, fertility care, and gender-neutral medical privacy. Illinois should: Protect patients and healthcare professionals from hostile out-of-state investigations, subpoenas, prosecutions, and professional discipline. Prevent state agencies and local governments from assisting investigations based on reproductive healthcare that is lawful in Illinois. Protect medical, prescription, location, and digital-health information. Ensure that Illinois providers can continue obtaining and dispensing necessary medications and medical equipment. Establish contingency plans and funding to maintain access if federal policies interrupt medication delivery or telehealth care. Challenge unlawful federal restrictions in court and coordinate with other states that protect reproductive freedom. Please publicly explain what steps Illinois is taking to protect patients and providers.
