Thank you for holding Avelo Airlines accountable

To: Sen. Seigfried

From: A constituent in Claymont, DE

December 24

I am writing to express my strong support and appreciation for your leadership in introducing legislation aimed at holding Avelo Airlines accountable for its involvement in deportation flights through its contract with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). As Delaware’s only commercial air operator, Avelo benefits from significant state incentives, including the jet fuel tax exemption worth approximately $43,000 annually. It is deeply concerning that a company receiving these benefits is simultaneously participating in deportation operations that raise serious human rights and due process concerns. Your proposed Senate Bill 207, which would amend Delaware Code to enforce accountability standards and disqualify airlines engaged in deportations from receiving tax exemptions, is a critical step toward aligning our state’s values with its economic policies. Additionally, the planned Senate Concurrent Resolution 123 discouraging the Delaware River & Bay Authority from partnering with businesses involved in ICE deportations demonstrates a commitment to ethical governance and community trust. Thank you for standing up for Delaware residents and ensuring that public resources do not support practices that undermine fundamental rights. Please let me know how I can further support this effort—whether through advocacy, testimony, or community engagement.
