I am your constituent and this is really important to me. Healthcare costs are out of control. Health spending per person increased to an average of $15,474 in 2024, not necessarily because we’re sicker, but because of increased prices. According to the Peterson-KFF Health System Tracker, the U.S. has half as many in-person doctor consultations per person as peer countries. In other words, we pay more for less care. Meanwhile, healthcare costs are eating up a growing share of our economy. The $5.3 trillion spent on healthcare in 2024 accounted for 18% of the nation’s gross domestic product that year. Remember that Yale University study? They found we could save almost 20% of our healthcare expenditures, as a country, $1 trillion every year and that 114,000 lives would be saved every year IF WE HAD UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE, LIKE HR 3069. 62% of Americans told the Kaiser Family Foundation Poll they want Universal Healthcare. You were sent there to do for Americans what they cannot accomplish on their own. Lincoln said that. What we cannot accomplish on our own is affordable healthcare. BUT YOU CAN DO IT. Enact Universal Healthcare, HR 3069 for all of your constituents. NOW.
