Oppose HB662, which would allow the state government to install a politically appointed oversight board. Such a board will undemocratically control our school system (MSCS) for at least 4 years. This bill is modeled after the disastrous state takeover of Houston ISD. This bill seeks to wrest control of our public schools from the Memphis community. There is clear language in the bill that allows the board to privatize our schools, alter teacher contracts and pay and sell school buildings.
