Demand transparency in Trump administration appointment process

To: Sen. Padilla, Rep. Sherman, Sen. Schiff

From: A constituent in Winnetka, CA

December 16, 2024

I share the concerns raised by Senators Durbin and Whitehouse regarding the need for transparency around potential communications between Boris Epshteyn and nominees for government appointments in the incoming administration. The allegations that Epshteyn solicited financial payments in exchange for advocating certain candidates for roles are deeply troubling. Any hint of pay-to-play or improper influence in the appointment process would undermine public trust and the integrity of our democratic institutions. It is imperative that all Trump administration nominees appearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee fully disclose and preserve any communications with Epshteyn related to their potential appointments. The American people deserve assurances that appointments are being made solely on merit and qualifications, not through backdoor dealings or quid pro quo arrangements. Thorough vetting and disclosure of relevant communications is crucial to ensuring an ethical and aboveboard transition process. I urge you to join Senators Durbin and Whitehouse in demanding that Trump's transition team and the Senate Judiciary Committee take decisive action to require comprehensive disclosure from nominees regarding any interactions with Epshteyn. Transparency and accountability must be paramount as our nation prepares for this transfer of power. Allegations of this gravity cannot be brushed aside – they require a full and impartial investigation to uphold the public's faith in our government.
