What the hell are you doing? Donald Trump is threatening to bring back his failed, reckless tariff policies, and you’re sitting on your hands. Again. Have you already forgotten what happened the last time he launched a trade war? Texas farmers got slammed. Manufacturers were squeezed. Consumer prices went up. And now he wants to slap a 10% tariff on everything from China — which will hit nearly $400 billion worth of imports. That’s not “America First.” That’s economic sabotage. These tariffs are a tax on us — the people who live and work in this state. Texas exported over $375 billion in goods in 2023. You think other countries won’t hit back? You think our farmers, ranchers, and oil & gas producers won’t pay the price — again? Trump’s trade war with China cost the U.S. 300,000 jobs, with Texas farmers losing hundreds of millions in exports. It hit soy, cotton, beef — staples of our economy. Meanwhile, American consumers paid an extra $57 billion in costs. That’s not leadership. That’s lunacy. And your silence is complicity. You swore an oath to serve the people of Texas, not to serve a wannabe dictator on a revenge tour. It’s time to stop acting like scared sycophants and do your damn jobs. Tell the truth: tariffs don’t work. They hurt working Americans. They punish small businesses. They help China in the long run by making us look like fools. We are watching. And if you can’t stand up to this nonsense, you don’t deserve your seats. Enough is enough.
